Marielle Zych-Executive Director

Born and raised in Clarence, New York, Marielle's passion for music led her to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Ithaca College in 2010. Continuing her education, she obtained a Master's degree in Music Education from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2013.

With her education in hand, Marielle began her career in music education, where she wore many hats over the course of ten years. In Phoenix, Arizona, she built a successful band program in an inner-city school and revitalized the existing choral and general music programs. In 2015, Marielle returned to her hometown of Buffalo to teach K-8 General Music and Chorus in the Buffalo Public Schools.

In 2019, Marielle's journey came full circle when she was hired as the Operations Manager for the Greater Buffalo Youth Orchestra. Her dedication to the organization and her expertise in music education led to her appointment as Executive Director in 2020. In her role, Marielle is responsible for a wide range of tasks, including publicity, rehearsal and concert arrangements, auditions, music library management, and development.

Marielle's love for music extends beyond her professional life - she was a member of the Greater Buffalo Youth Orchestra from 2003 to 2006, serving as principal clarinet for two seasons. Her talent has taken her to iconic venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, where she has showcased her skills as a musician.

With a wealth of experience in music education and a deep connection to the Greater Buffalo Youth Orchestra, Marielle Zych continues to inspire and uplift the next generation of musicians in her community.
